THE EARTHENWARE OVEN
Tourist site around the theme of Industrial & technological heritage in SARREGUEMINES, classified in the list of historic monuments, free entrance
It is the only survivor of around thirty ovens built between 1860 and 1862 on the left side of the Sarre. It is sheltered under a cone of 11 meters high. It is a precious witness of the industrial revolution which help us to imagine the hard working condition of that time. Facing the Jardin d’Hiver (Winter Garden), it is the only copy of this type left still registered in continental Europe.
