The Centre Pompidou-Metz is entirely dedicated to modern and contemporary creation. It was built to treat visitors to an experience covering every form of artistic expression, and put the general public in touch with milestone 20th- and 21st-century works of art. Art enthusiasts will also enjoy the staggering architecture by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines.
The Centre Pompidou-Metz has taken over part of the Paris Centre Pompidou's well-known 60,000-strong collection and host world-class temporary exhibitions. It also runs a matching cultural programme featuring four events a week (dances, films, concerts, shows for young audiences, etc). Its aim is to provide "a large centre for information, exhibitions, research and initiative gathering many fields of contemporary creation".
Besides its cultural attractions, the Centre Pompidou-Metz also has a restaurant (La Voile Blanche), bar (Le 333) and bookshop.
